Who Is Dr Thng Yongxian?
Dr Thng Yongxian is a Hepatopancreatobiliary and General Surgeon practicing at Nexus Surgical (located at Mount Elizabeth Orchard, Mount Elizabeth Novena, Parkway East and Mount Alvernia hospitals). Before joining Nexus Surgical, Dr Thng was a consultant at the Department of General Surgery, Ng Teng Fong General Hospital (NTFGH) and the National University Health System, Singapore. He served as Clinical lead of the Hepatopancreatobiliary Division and pioneered the use of Minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery for complex pancreatic and liver surgery in NTFGH.
Dr Thng is an advocate for value-driven care for patients. He was a member of a Ministry of Health Clinician workgroup for value-driven care. Dr Thng was also the Clinical lead for a programme at NTFGH to drive quality care for patients requiring cholecystectomies. In addition, Dr Thng led the Diagnosis-related workgroup, which aimed to decrease cost to patients while providing quality healthcare.
Dr Thng Yongxian is also an educator. As a Senior Clinical lecturer of NUS School of Medicine, he helped to develop and train the next generation of surgeons.
