1. Cervical Test

A cervical screening test called a Pap smear test can help you check for cervical cancer and other issues that may be causing infertility.

2. STD/STI Testing

Sexually transmitted diseases may be a cause for not being able to get pregnant. In females, untreated STIs can cause inflammation and scarring in the fallopian tubes and other reproductive organs, making it hard for sperm to reach an egg. In males, STIs can cause damage, scarring, or inflammation in the reproductive system, affecting fertility. So, it might be worth having an STD/STI screening for both partners to make sure there are no complications.

3. Ovulation Test

Sometimes irregularities in your cycle can make it difficult to get pregnant. Specifically, disruptions in your ovulation window are what impact fertility the most. Ovulation testing kits can help you accurately determine LH (luteinizing hormone) levels in your urine. The hormone usually increases in concentration 24-36 hours before ovulation; hence this is the recommended time period to get a test. Ovulation tests can be done at home and the kits are accessible in your local drugstores such as Guardian or Watsons.

4. Ultrasound Test

This test is also called transvaginal ultrasound. This test allows healthcare professionals to conduct detailed ultrasound imaging of your uterus with the use of sound waves. The test can help you check your ovaries for any abnormalities.

5. Laparoscopy

This type of procedure involves a doctor inserting a camera through a small incision made in the belly area. This allows to have a comprehensive examination of the entire pelvis and even determine a suitable treatment for endometriosis.

6. Hormone Blood Test

Hormones impact female fertility greatly, so it can be insightful to have a hormone blood test. Reduced fertility is affected by progesterone levels, which defines the circulation of ovulation. Another hormone that can block ovulation is prolactin when found in high levels. Additionally, female fertility problems are associated with excessive levels of FSH – a follicle-stimulating hormone, which prepares the egg to be released from the ovaries.
