Incisional Double Eyelid Surgery

Incisional double eyelid surgery’s purpose is to fix the droopy eyelids, and/or make long lasting, conspicuous double folds. It is a procedure done through an incision, removing the unnecessary fat, muscle, and skin, depending on the condition of your eyelids.

Incisional double eyelid surgery is done through local anesthesia. You can return to your residence after several treatments once the procedure is done, which will only take about an hour.

Seven days after the procedure, you will be asked to revisit the clinic, to remove the stitches and attend check-ups, as well as several treatments to help accelerate your recovery. All the while, it is suggested to stop smoking for 2 weeks before, and also after the surgery, for a better result and a faster recovery.

Recommended For:

  • Droopy Eyelids.
  • Thick Eyelids.
  • Ptosis

*Permanent and brings definition.

How It Works

Double Eyelid Surgery Incisional

1. After consultations with the plastic surgeon, a double eyelid line is designed suited just for you.

2. An incision is made, just enough to remove the fat, the muscle, and the skin.

3. The surgeon stitches back linking the upper eyelid and the remaining muscle.

4. A permanent crease is formed, widening and highlighting your eyes.

Aftercare

1. Make sure to ice around the operated area for at least 2-3 weeks after the operation.

2. Avoid smoking and drinking for at least 2-3 weeks after the operation.

3. Contact lens is recommended to be worn after at least 2 weeks.

4. Eye make up is suggested after at least 1 week.

5. It is advised to sleep on your back.

Non- Incisional Double Eyelid Surgery

Non-incisional double eyelid surgery is also known as the suture or thread double eyelid surgery. This popular cosmetic procedure helps create a natural-looking double eyelid without incisions on the eyelid.

The surgeon uses small sutures or threads to create folds along the eyelid crease, creating folds in the eyelid. It is less invasive; it does not incision and removes excess skin, muscle, and fat. The procedure typically takes 30 minutes to an hour and is performed under local anesthesia. You can even go home the same day after the procedure.

Recommended For:

  • People who have thinner eyelids or do not have excess skin on their eyelids.
  • Asymmetrical double eyelids.
  • Who wants to enlarge their current eyelids.

How It Works

Double Eyelid Surgery Non-Incisional

Non-incisional double eyelid surgery is a short operation; you can leave the clinic on the day. You do not need long-term hospitalization. It will only take you up to an hour.

  1. The surgeon creates a plan on how to improve your eyelids. It is crucial to design the crease according to the shape and proportion of each eye.
  2. No incisions are made. A small sulcus is carefully made for the procedure.
  3. When the eyelid fat is removed, the surgeon stitches and fixates the upper eyelid muscle and the skin.

As with any surgical procedure, non-incisional double eyelid surgery does carry some risks, including bleeding, infection, scarring, and adverse reactions to anesthesia. There is also a risk of asymmetry or an unnatural appearance if the procedure is not performed correctly or if the patient’s anatomy is not well-suited for this type of surgery. That’s why consulting is important first to evaluate your needs fully. Sometimes, the sutures used to create the double eyelid may loosen or break over time, requiring additional surgery to correct.

Aftercare

Recovery time after the non-incisional double eyelid surgery varies for each patient. Most patients can resume their normal activities within a few days to a week after the procedure. You may experience mild discomfort, swelling and bruising during the initial recovery period. Besides the medication the surgeon prescribes, you can apply ice around the operated area for 15 minutes within 2 to 3 days after the procedure. This helps with the swelling.

Here are also a few reminders to help your fast recovery:

  • Avoid strenuous activities and do not rub or touch the treated area for at least a week.
  • Do not smoke or drink for at least 2 to 3 weeks after the operation.
  • Wear contact lens after at least 2 weeks after the procedure.
  • Eye makeup is recommended at least a week after the surgery.
  • It is best to sleep on your back.
  • The surgeon may also provide specific aftercare instructions.
